Why are so many Americans afraid of change??

OK for the past few days I've been observing peoples reaction to questions regarding Obama, it appears that Republican supporters are fearful of change. It is statistically proven that change is beneficial for a nation. Obama is offering a modern way of life without the conceited polices. I have read comments such as, I am a veteran what has Obama done for me??? I mean with all due respect what did Bush do for you besides from send more of your brothers, sons etc to war to experience the pain you once faced. Actually as a veteran with Obama as your leader you may rejoice in the fact that you will receive universal health care like most of the Western world(finally!!!). The old fogy rigid ways DO NOT work and if you insist on remaining true to those ways the country will cease to grow and move forward!!
