Creative ways to ask someone to a dance?

m'kay i want to ask my friend that is a guy to prom..but.. i want to ask him in a sweet/funny/unique/romantic? way. he is kinda artsy and is a superb drummer. he's in an athesit vegan grunge band. but he's not any of those things. um we've been friends for a year now and talk everyday. so any help would be great thanks!
