My friend is in trouble...?

my friend had three c's on his report card. one in AP psychology, one in chemistry honors, and one in problems and statistics honors. His parents are enraged and he is getting in trouble. His grades are weighted but his parents just dont understand. How can he talk his parents out of this punishment?
